The standard · in depth

One record. One standard. Everywhere.

Ingredient Facts is the registry and display standard for the facts on a food label. This page covers what publishing includes, how panels reach retailer pages and apps, how the printed mark works, and how the standard is governed as it versions forward.

The Ingredient Facts mark
01 · What publishing includes
01 The permanent address Every product gets its own page at an address built from its GTIN. The address never changes, and the record behind it is yours.
02 The checks Structure, sub-ingredients, the 2% line, and allergen declarations are validated before anything goes live. A list that does not pass shows you exactly what to fix.
03 The panel Readable by people, structured for machines, served from the same address. Retailer pages, apps, and search engines all draw from the one record you published.
04 The QR Built on GS1 Digital Link. One code on the pack opens the product’s page, and it is ready for the 2D barcode transition already underway at retail.
05 Updates everywhere Edit the record once and every surface showing the panel is current, from the retailer page to the QR on the pack. No re-publishing, no version chasing.
02 · The two tracks

Brands & restaurants

Who: food and beverage brands, manufacturers, and restaurant groups, from a single product to a national portfolio.

Getting started: we work with you directly to get your catalog published and looking right everywhere it appears. No feed to build, no retyping.

What you control: the record. You publish it, you update it, and the panel everyone sees is the one you wrote.

Where it shows: your site, retailer pages, delivery apps, menus, and the QR on the pack, all from one record.

Retailers & platforms

Who: grocery e-commerce, delivery apps, digital-menu platforms, kiosk providers, and the platforms that power them.

What it costs: displaying panels costs nothing. Integrations are set up with us directly, with attribution built in.

Integration: one snippet in your product page template, or the read API rendered inside your own stack. Panels match by GTIN, so there is no catalog work.

Where records do not exist yet: your page stays exactly as it is. Panels appear as the brands you carry publish.

03 · The printed mark

Displaying the panel costs nothing, and the QR comes with publishing. The printed mark on packaging is the one thing we license. Before mark artwork is released, we confirm the label matches the published record, so the mark keeps meaning one thing everywhere it appears. When you are ready to print, we walk the artwork through with you.

Versioning

When the standard improves, published panels update with it. No re-publishing, no migrations, no work on your end.

Mark integrity

Mark artwork ships only after we confirm the packaging matches the published record, and a lapsed license means the mark comes down. That is what keeps it worth printing.

Data handling

A panel is rendered from one record, so it looks the same everywhere it appears. Formulations and business terms behind the label stay yours.

05 · Common questions

Does a retailer need each brand’s permission?

No. Brands publish their own records. Retailers and platforms show panels through an integration with us, and displaying them costs nothing.

What does it cost to show panels?

Displaying panels costs nothing. Publishing is what brands pay for. Integrations are set up with us directly, so every panel stays correct and attributed.

What if a list does not pass the checks?

It does not publish. You see exactly what to fix, and nothing broken ever goes live.

What do you need from a brand to get started?

The ingredient statement as printed on the label and the product’s GTIN. We work with you directly from there.

Can a brand put the panel on a grocery site?

The panel appears wherever a retailer or platform has integrated, and the same record powers your own pages, links, and QR. You publish once and surfaces pick it up.

How does the printed mark work?

Digital panels need no license. The printed mark is released for packaging after we confirm the label artwork matches the published record, under a trademark license that keeps the mark meaning one thing everywhere.
